Stan James Review
Stan James
Stan James were founded in Berkshire in 1973 but now run their operations in Gibraltar, having recently merged SJ UK and SJ Gibraltar they can consider themselves one of Europe’s big players. They pioneered in-running betting but are not as dominant as they could be in this field (see bet365). They are in the process of launching a new website which could put them back amongst the big boys. They don’t seem to have much of a presence as regards advertising etc. but they do offer everything you’d expect from a modern bookmaker and their call centre operatives are particularly good. They have sponsored the Guineas over the past few years. A fair and accommodating firm generally.
The Stan James sign-up bonus is pretty basic, £25 matched bet. Their offers aren’t usually as generous as firms like Paddy Power but they have been offering more in recent months so keep your eye out. SJ do offer best odds guaranteed on all mainland UK racing and seem keen to start giving more cash backs in this ever-more competitive industry.
SJ have had the same website much since they went Online but as we go to press they are launching a brand new one which does look pretty good it has to be said. The bet slip was always too big as it covered a lot of the markets you were actually trying to put on it but the new site seems to have sorted this out.
To have an early look at the new site click the box on the right-hand side of the current page- there are a few glitches at the moment but expect those to be ironed out by the time they go live with it. Basically keep an eye on the new website as it develops as it promises to be excellent.
Stan James have plenty of content with an abundance of scores, stats and results and always seem to have microsites set up for the major sporting events. Like most other firms they also have “bet & watch” where you can stream races you have bet on. Other live streaming is pretty thin on the ground but if they are to compete with 365 the new site will have to tap into it.
All in all Stans are a very good firm to bet with but haven’t yet broken into the elite of the industry.
